I have internet again…

Written at 6:49 pm by Tora in   |   Listening to birds chirping and cars driving
feeling

3+ months of no internet on my own computer. Do you realize how much manga and music I’ve missed?! Granted I have been reading more, but I would’ve been reading most of those books anyway ‘cuz they’re related to school and/or to very good things (ie: Discworld, Adobe, Austen, Film).

Tonight is our third night of Smallville/movie watching. Is this the third or fourth season of Smallville? I have no idea, I haven’t watched much of it since the end of season 1 and my friend, Jennifer, (who was way more obsessed, she drools over Clark, I drool over Lex) hasn’t much either. But as the trailers for the season premiere brought a glimpse of flying and lots of Lois we can’t not watch. And it’s much easier to remember to watch it when you decide to get everybody together that night. I’m not too keen on tonight’s episode, girls wanting to be beautiful, another “monster-of-the-day” sort of episode, nothing too major in the plot of the series but we’ll watch Coffee and Cigarettes after (I completely forgot about that movie!! good thing my sister rented it) and it’ll be the first night my neighbor (Nadia) and I hang out together. I’ve knocked on her door a few times when I was going out but she was always gone. She just graduated from a culinary school somewhere and is working at Copia. Her schedule changes every week. Oh how I don’t miss that.

In other news, The Forgotten was pretty damn good. Julianne Moore did really well. I’m sure her experiences in motherhood helped well (she had a baby within the last couple years right? That great photo). The directing was awesome! Shakey in many scenes to jitter you up, add to the chase. The opening shot was really interesting. Many movies have used the aerial view of a city but I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone use exactly overhead so that the point in the middle of the screen is perfectly perpendicular to the camera. Very cool. OOoooh and the car crash shot was perfect… I’m not giving away too much am I? There’s nothing in there related to plot or giving much more than the trailers have =P

SIMPSONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Written at 4:00 pm by Tora in   |   Listening to a fan
feeling

OMG!!!!!! The Simpsons fanlisting is open for application!!! It’s been open since February 24!!!!!!!! Holy crap, I barely ever pay attention to the animation category because I never expected my absolutely favorite fls to be removed!! THE SIMPSONS!!!!!!!! I told my sister, my fellow Simpsons nut, and she’s just like “uh ok…”. If she actually cared about fanlistings or remembered what they were she’d be ready to burst too, the brat =P

Why does UPN keep having to play the same episodes though? It’s not worth having Simpsons on 3 times a day when they just recycle the fls they used a few weeks, even a few days before! I’d rather have two Simpsons less-aired episodes a day instead of three I just watched. They changed the time from 4:30 back to the old 6:00 though which is kinda nice. I liked having something to watch at 4:30 though ^_^ Means I don’t have to wait as long for some Simpsons. Let’s see… yesterday was the lights one with guest star John Cleese where Lisa gets Springfield to turn off all lights at night. And the Moe and Maggie episode. And… what was the other? I can’t remember now! The day before was the one where Moe makes his tavern more hip.

“I’m dying, Moe.”
“Uh gee, I’m sorry Professor. Is there anything I can do?”
“Not really, unless you have a cure for cancer.” All hopeful “Do you have a cure for cancer?”

Hmm new episode on Sunday. The last one had a very loooong opening which I didn’t get on tape :( Coulda been better but it was nice nonetheless. Bringing Arty Ziff around again was a good move, he’s so lecherous :)

Ooooh South Park’s Kyle fl is available… No must resist, I wouldn’t get it anyway. Ooooh but it’s Kyle… Heh, the new South Park was awesome. Sooooo funny, I loved the anime style ninja stuff. And the end? A smack to the half-time show. Why do you people get so worked up about sex… excuse me, nudity more than violence.

Ahhh Kyle… no, don’t want to overburden the staffer anymore so… but Kyle and Cartman are my fave South Parkers although I like Kyle more in a way because let’s face it, Cartman’s evil. If you ever had any doubt just watch the Scott Tenorman Must Die episode and wish you didn’t.

My mom just suggested I look online to see about selling some of my comics for easy money. My comics!! I didn’t buy them to collect them, I bought them to read them so none of them are in absolute perfect shape. And how long ago was the first one I got? 11 years? Granted I do have a copy of X-Men #1, second series, but I don’t think those are too rare a thing. Just because I don’t have a job right now doesn’t mean I’ll give those babies up for only a bit of money :X

These days

Written at 6:57 pm by Tora in   |   Listening to the voices in my head
feeling

I’ve been on a Daria kick the last three days. Downloading episodes, reading fanfiction, and all in all desperately missing the show because I don’t get Mtv and even when I still did 2 years ago, the time slot kept changing on me. Grrr.

I’ve finished joining all actors fanlistings, well the ones that were up anyway. No Tim Robbins fl, a very sucky Tony Shalhoub fl, and John Leguizamo fl not working. I’m not even a sixth of the way through f/hlists I want to join. I’ve made a few more Discworld buttons which makes around 20 new buttons since last Friday but I still want to add a lot more. I’ve agreed to host another fanlisting because let’s face it X-Men Fanart is cool. All my fanart growing up until I was 13 was for X-Men, particularly the girls because I’ve always sucked at drawing the guys. So that makes two hostees, the Dave Chappelle Show hostee hasn’t gotten the fl up but she has a lot of fls to work on. I know how that goes ¬_¬

Last Wednesday we of the… oh I might as well say it… Napa Town Hall(four of us anyway) met to discuss the website. Tomorrow I’ll be setting up a basic look as we won’t work with images until our Sunday meeting and playing around with forum and databases. As with most of my sites, our biggest worry is content, specifically news. Bruce wants a lot of news but he knows he’s not always on the ball for it. He thinks maybe he could get some teachers to have their students research a topic and we could use that information. Hey, as long as my class isn’t doing it. All my news comes from the net and Mr. Keller is iffy about net sources.

So, last night I watched Tru Calling while on the computer of course. It seems to be improving a little bit but it still… lacks. Surprisingly enough, it’s been renewed for a second season. Maybe they think it’ll improve without Friends around. So afterwards I caught the first episode of Wonderfalls. I had meant to watch it on Friday but I completely forgot of course. I never remember to watch shows unless I make it a habit. But wow the show is so good!!!!! I don’t know why but I keep thinking of The 10th Kingdom when I see commercials for it. Maybe it’s the theme music and “magic” element? The main character Jaye is written and acted delightfully and the story reminds me of Tru Calling but it’s done so much better! It’s quirky and not too fast-paced. It’s only the first episode so here’s to it not getting stale! Ah, I remember now! The last one-hour tv show, well any show that’s not purely comedy, that had me hooked was Monk and that was… over a year ago. When did it come out… maybe it was two years ago? I miss Monk. Why’d ABC sell it to USA? Damn them!!
