Mood Swings

Written at 11:06 pm by Tora in   |   Listening to the voices in my head
feeling

I’ve had such mood swings today. I’m pretty sure my period will be starting soon, I can feel it so it might very well be why. I’ve been reading manga scanlations for the past two days and used Mirc for the second time ever. I read Parfait Tic, Nana, Seikimatsu no Enjeru, and before I left to my grandma’s an hour ago I was reading Sensei. I called Leia at Express Personnel(the job agency my sister uses) and set up an appointment with her tomorrow. Of course I forgot to tell her I take two college courses, one which might be a problem for my schedule. Then I took my clothes over to Grandma’s and when I drove to Albertson’s to bring her back ice cream(so I could eat it) I was so happy at that moment. As I ate my sundae in front of the tv, I changed the channel to VH1 and there was George Harrison. I wondered what I was watching exactly and it turned out to be the Rock’n'Roll Hall of Fame and you could see Tom Petty really missed him, everybody missed him and my eyes watered and…

Later when I went to the NTH meeting I was annoyed because I hadn’t worked on it very much and I hate not being told what to do. That doesn’t sound right. If someone wants me to draw them something or do a job or create a layout, I bloody well want to know what the hell they want. Otherwise, I’ll be racking my brain for ideas and it might not turn out to their liking because they didn’t specify. But I wasn’t irritated when I left, I may be a procrastinator but I expect too much out of myself sometimes so I put it off. Got home, watched the Simpsons that played on Sunday, and lo and behold it’s Napa! Well, northern cali wine country anyway. And damn that’s exactly how it looks! Various greens, rolling hills, lots of vineyards and still somehow plenty of trees, fancy schmancy buildings and goddamn hot air balloons in the morning. I’ve lived here 3 years since St. Patty’s Day and I still haven’t been to a winery…

I was ok, hungry and kinda bored since my sister was hogging up my computer, but I watched That 70’s Show and read more Sensei and then at 9 there’s a phone call. Like there aren’t plenty (glare at sister) but it was my grandma and by what my sister was saying I freaked for a second. Apparently some of our clothes (mine and Mom’s) got blue spots on them. Oooooh goodie. I went over, figured out it was oil paint that my sister spilled in my mom’s room and it got on one of her clothes I guess. It’s workable but it made me blu–uh, down. I talked with my grandma for awhile, I told her I want to live on my own and she has no idea why I’d want too and it’s so expensive and yes grandma, I know but if money wasn’t an issue I’d live on my own in a heartbeat. Really it was more of a confession than just a discussion which isn’t really good to do with Grandma. Although she’s been confessing things to me I’ve never heard her say ¬_¬

I was really tired, stayed up too late reading manga and got out of bed too early. I turned at the stop sign and there’s a dead cat in the road just a little to the left of the line. I freak, go up a little further to pull over, and kinda run stupidly to it in my sandals. And it’s big, not fat, just a big cat, long like Yuki but muscley(and less fat) like Mao. Like Sylvester the black and white cat that lived in our apartment complex that I used to pet on my way to school. Hell, I was ditching school then and sitting out front with that cat. Then he got hit by a car the day after he and Oo-long duked it out and my arm got caught in the middle. And this cat was brown striped, his fur was weirdly matted, with blood maybe? His brains were falling out of his head a bit and I couldn’t think what to do. He was dead, surely I didn’t hit him when I drove over nor was he there before so it was within 20 minutes. He must’ve been someone’s cat with all these houses around and I couldn’t leave him there in the middle of the road. The top of his body was stiff and the fur felt weird but when I reached under him, his fur was soft, I had this urge to pet him, and he was still warm. My face hurt from crying which may be due to allergies already wearing down my nose and eyes. My bottom lip quivered really weird. Not like quivering one would tend to think of, like shaking up and down slightly but I held it absolutely still and there in the middle it tingled and practically vibrated. I feel bad when I see dead animals on the road. I like animals. But a cat is an animal I could easily approach, I could pet and give affection to. I would kill anyone who hit one of my cats and just left in the road.

I need more manga. I need chocolate right fucking now.

MI 4

Less than a minute into my saved game and there’s Murray :)

What a weekend

feeling

I just noticed today that my Little Prince fell off my keyring. And it must’ve been yesterday at least in which case I hope I can find it near my grandma’s house. If not then it’s probably around the college somewhere. I’m sure I had it on Friday though as I left class… *sigh* I was really fond of that key ornament. And I have no idea where my sister got it, someone gave it and another one to her mine being the Little Prince in his princely costume with sword and hers being the Little Prince in his pale outfit with green scarf and the fox by his side.

I clogged up the drain on Friday and my mom and I are still having a jolly time unclogging it with a whole bottle of Dran-o and a not-very-useful snake. We looked at two houses today and I really liked both in different ways. The biggest problem is bathrooms thanks to my sister, Kristin. She needs her own bathroom but even though she has her own bathroom now she doesn’t bloody well use it because a) she’s left enormous amounts of clothes and junk in there, b) thanks to said clothes lying on the floor the cats have no conniptions about using the bathroom as a kittybox, c) she hasn’t bothered to clean it since then or keep it clean after my mom’s cleaned it for her several times and it smells horrid, and d) she comes into our bathroom to use so many of our things and we yell at her for not putting said things back(she can use them but we can’t if we don’t know where they are) so she probably figures she’ll just get ready in our bathroom where those things are. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

The second house is kind of out in the boonies and it’s adorable with a lovely wood floor and interesting large enough bedrooms… and one small bathroom with the smallest bathtub(that’s still a shower) I’ve ever seen. Kristin also needs her own bathroom because she likes to sit in the damn thing for so long plucking her eyebrows or taking a bath. We shouldn’t bother taking her to see it.

The first house has one bathroom and two half bathrooms one of which is downstairs while all three bedrooms are upstairs. If we take that house, I’m thinking Kristin can have the slightly smaller second bedroom that’s near the small half-bathroom because she sure as hell can’t claim the bathroom with the shower/bathtub as her own. Who knows what kind of mess it’ll turn into. I can take the small small small bedroom and have my beautiful computer downstairs in the um kitchen nook thing. It’s a nice place but because of our cats the deposit will be twice the rent! Can my aunt and grandmother really cover us for $3000? @_@ Stupid expensive Napa. It’s as close to downtown as we are now though and has two very spacious walk-in closests. Of course the small bedroom doesn’t get one…

I didn’t get the Simpsons fanlisting or the Wonderfalls fanlisting. I think I rambled and begged way too much on The Simpsons application, whereas the Wonderfalls owner might’ve come across as the bigger fan and better fanlisting owner? I’m pretty sure not being on the ball quite often with my fls last year hasn’t helped me any. I’d like to rework The Network fanlisting into a fansite but I’ll need some recruits as I suck at news and content. I’ve looked around the Network Message board and they seem to be very tightnit. What does it say about me as a fan if I don’t keep up on all the news and go to message boards to talk with other fans? I mean, some of my most favorite things I barely ever dive into the fandom and fansites. Like the Beatles, the Simpsons, South Park, the X-Files. If I do it’s because it’s related to web design and graphics (like Tere’s Art) or completely informational. I think I use the internet to fill my fix. I get a good dose of these things normally. Harry/Draco, I can only satisfy online. I need the internet to connect with other fans because I can’t ever find any without it. “I’d say Lizzy/Darcy should be quite high on the greatest romantic couples in literature but I’m really keen on Harry/Draco too.” That’ll work.

I was joining fanlistings in the games category yesterday so I had the sudden urge to play either Monkey Island 3 or Day of the Tentacles. But I’ve only played DotT once or twice and MI3 three or four times and less than a year ago so I ran to my grandma’s and asked Jeremy for DotT. Of course he couldn’t find it, I must’ve asked about it awhile ago because that sounds familiar… I stayed up until 5am playing Monkey Island 4 for the first time. The graphics weren’t as bad as I thought they would be. I was very fond of the cartoon look in 3, but they’re still cartoony in a way. Elaine’s voice isn’t as cool and everything isn’t quite as funny… Where’s Murray?! But it’s fun and I’ll finish it tonight. But first must set the vcr to record Simpsons and then eat some ice cream. Mmmm…

Alan Rickman Marathon

Written at 4:26 pm by Tora in   |   Listening to still a fan
feeling

I never got to talking about the movies I watched during my AR marathon! I’ll only talk about the ones I hadn’t seen before though.

Mesmer - About a real life doctor in the 19th century(I think) who has very odd methods indeed, methods considering to be merely theatrics which don’t do anything by others. It was a nice movie, not too uplifting or depressing but very thoughtful. Makes me interested in looking up more about the man. Alan’s costar, Amanda Ooms, was fantastic! Looking at the cover I figured she was much much younger but that was merely a bad photo. Alan won an award for this movie, I think it was a film festival award.

Blow Dry - This is the comedy that came out in 2001 I had never heard of. On the cover is Josh Hartnett and Rachel Leigh Cook so I was a little iffy… They didn’t detract from the movie so no worries. Josh’s character is the son of a barber(Alan Rickman) and his somewhat estranged mother wants to enter Britain’s big Hairstyling competition which is coming to their town just like they used to do. It also had the actor that was in Love Actually, the rockstar, who devilishly played an old competitor with Rachel as his daughter. A very humorous, entertaining, and somewhat sad film from the writer of The Full Monty.

Rasputin - My oooooh my. There’s so much mystery surrounding the Romanovs and the man Rasputin that I really don’t know the accuracy of the film as I haven’t studied the subject. Jen and I were arguing about the dates actually because our history sucks ^^;; This film left me crying at the end because no matter how evil the Czar might really have been, I think it’s wrong to kill a family because of the actions of the father or one family member, particularly children. I recommend watching it for the acting by Alan Rickman, Ian McKellan, and Greta Scacchi is excellent and getting to see a Russia that is rarely portrayed in movies. Winner of three Golden Globes, including Best Television Movie or Miniseries, Best Actor–Alan Rickman, and Best Supporting Actor–Ian McKellan.

And I think that was it. We also watched Dogma, Sense and Sensibility, and Galaxy Quest but those I’ll say nothing other than watch them.

SIMPSONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Written at 4:00 pm by Tora in   |   Listening to a fan
feeling

OMG!!!!!! The Simpsons fanlisting is open for application!!! It’s been open since February 24!!!!!!!! Holy crap, I barely ever pay attention to the animation category because I never expected my absolutely favorite fls to be removed!! THE SIMPSONS!!!!!!!! I told my sister, my fellow Simpsons nut, and she’s just like “uh ok…”. If she actually cared about fanlistings or remembered what they were she’d be ready to burst too, the brat =P

Why does UPN keep having to play the same episodes though? It’s not worth having Simpsons on 3 times a day when they just recycle the fls they used a few weeks, even a few days before! I’d rather have two Simpsons less-aired episodes a day instead of three I just watched. They changed the time from 4:30 back to the old 6:00 though which is kinda nice. I liked having something to watch at 4:30 though ^_^ Means I don’t have to wait as long for some Simpsons. Let’s see… yesterday was the lights one with guest star John Cleese where Lisa gets Springfield to turn off all lights at night. And the Moe and Maggie episode. And… what was the other? I can’t remember now! The day before was the one where Moe makes his tavern more hip.

“I’m dying, Moe.”
“Uh gee, I’m sorry Professor. Is there anything I can do?”
“Not really, unless you have a cure for cancer.” All hopeful “Do you have a cure for cancer?”

Hmm new episode on Sunday. The last one had a very loooong opening which I didn’t get on tape :( Coulda been better but it was nice nonetheless. Bringing Arty Ziff around again was a good move, he’s so lecherous :)

Ooooh South Park’s Kyle fl is available… No must resist, I wouldn’t get it anyway. Ooooh but it’s Kyle… Heh, the new South Park was awesome. Sooooo funny, I loved the anime style ninja stuff. And the end? A smack to the half-time show. Why do you people get so worked up about sex… excuse me, nudity more than violence.

Ahhh Kyle… no, don’t want to overburden the staffer anymore so… but Kyle and Cartman are my fave South Parkers although I like Kyle more in a way because let’s face it, Cartman’s evil. If you ever had any doubt just watch the Scott Tenorman Must Die episode and wish you didn’t.

My mom just suggested I look online to see about selling some of my comics for easy money. My comics!! I didn’t buy them to collect them, I bought them to read them so none of them are in absolute perfect shape. And how long ago was the first one I got? 11 years? Granted I do have a copy of X-Men #1, second series, but I don’t think those are too rare a thing. Just because I don’t have a job right now doesn’t mean I’ll give those babies up for only a bit of money :X

These days

Written at 6:57 pm by Tora in   |   Listening to the voices in my head
feeling

I’ve been on a Daria kick the last three days. Downloading episodes, reading fanfiction, and all in all desperately missing the show because I don’t get Mtv and even when I still did 2 years ago, the time slot kept changing on me. Grrr.

I’ve finished joining all actors fanlistings, well the ones that were up anyway. No Tim Robbins fl, a very sucky Tony Shalhoub fl, and John Leguizamo fl not working. I’m not even a sixth of the way through f/hlists I want to join. I’ve made a few more Discworld buttons which makes around 20 new buttons since last Friday but I still want to add a lot more. I’ve agreed to host another fanlisting because let’s face it X-Men Fanart is cool. All my fanart growing up until I was 13 was for X-Men, particularly the girls because I’ve always sucked at drawing the guys. So that makes two hostees, the Dave Chappelle Show hostee hasn’t gotten the fl up but she has a lot of fls to work on. I know how that goes ¬_¬

Last Wednesday we of the… oh I might as well say it… Napa Town Hall(four of us anyway) met to discuss the website. Tomorrow I’ll be setting up a basic look as we won’t work with images until our Sunday meeting and playing around with forum and databases. As with most of my sites, our biggest worry is content, specifically news. Bruce wants a lot of news but he knows he’s not always on the ball for it. He thinks maybe he could get some teachers to have their students research a topic and we could use that information. Hey, as long as my class isn’t doing it. All my news comes from the net and Mr. Keller is iffy about net sources.

So, last night I watched Tru Calling while on the computer of course. It seems to be improving a little bit but it still… lacks. Surprisingly enough, it’s been renewed for a second season. Maybe they think it’ll improve without Friends around. So afterwards I caught the first episode of Wonderfalls. I had meant to watch it on Friday but I completely forgot of course. I never remember to watch shows unless I make it a habit. But wow the show is so good!!!!! I don’t know why but I keep thinking of The 10th Kingdom when I see commercials for it. Maybe it’s the theme music and “magic” element? The main character Jaye is written and acted delightfully and the story reminds me of Tru Calling but it’s done so much better! It’s quirky and not too fast-paced. It’s only the first episode so here’s to it not getting stale! Ah, I remember now! The last one-hour tv show, well any show that’s not purely comedy, that had me hooked was Monk and that was… over a year ago. When did it come out… maybe it was two years ago? I miss Monk. Why’d ABC sell it to USA? Damn them!!

I aint’t dead

Written at 6:50 pm by Tora in   |   Listening to “Cocaine Girl” by Stage Fright
feeling

So I did get TTM up but not til Saturday. I made a few new codes but I wasn’t feeling very inspired at the time. Right now I very much want to work on HD.net but I know as soon as I start I’ll go until 3am, climb in bed, and keep thinking about it and I’ve got a few things to do tomorrow. Luckily no class in the morning. I never ever go to bed early enough to get 8 hours of sleep before Human Geography. But it’s only a 50 minute class so I go back to bed half the time.

I’ll work on coding later. I’m going scan The Last Hero so I can have a lot more Discworld images to work with. I’ve been trying to stem out and get various characters and TLH has quite a few of the wizards particularly Rincewind, Vetinari, the Librarian, and Cohen and his crew. And yet I still haven’t read it! C’mon it’s a picture book, I’ve been distracted by the visuals. But hey, the tfl-approved Terry Pratchett fl is up! Yay!! Once I get more TTM codes up and some book information I’ll scourge TFL for more affiliates.

I’ve also gotten around to rejoining some fanlistings but it’s slow progress. I’ve touched two different categories (Actors and Books) and haven’t finished either yet.
